The Mission: Mission Beach

Last weekend I was able to try The Mission, in Mission Beach, a restaurant that has been on my "Must Go To" list as it is named one of the "Top 25 Best Breakfast Spots in the Country," by USA Today.  The Mission has also received numerous awards in San Diego for their spectacular breakfast options, so you can understand my desire to try this local favorite.

The Mission's focus is to provide simple, healthy, tasty food with a whimsical edge at an affordable price, and they do just that! All of their dishes  are made from simple and fresh ingredients that pleases the eye as well as the palette. The atmosphere of The Mission is constantly buzzing with locals and visitors from around the country. I had heard they make fresh gluten free rosemary bread, so I was anxious to try one of their signature sandwiches on their famous loaf. The Mission conveniently has a gluten free menu (click HERE) which lists entrees that are gluten free or can be prepared gluten free. Please note products that contain gluten are prepared in the same kitchen.

I enjoyed their Chicken Pesto Sandwich- a house made pesto and grilled chicken with mayo, tomato, greens on fresh rosemary bread for $9.25. I also enjoyed a blended frappe, an iced coffee blended with cocoa and milk for $4.25.

I highly recommend this beach favorite this summer, although the wait may be long, grab one of their signature coffees, smoothies or shake to sip on while the time passes. It is definitely worth it!
